Can You Use Artificial Grass For A Play Area?

The answer is, of course, yes. Most of the international playgrounds around the globe are using artificial grass. This gives away the answer that it is safe and useful for playgrounds to use artificial grass.

There is an excellent reason behind this. Playgrounds, especially grounds for soccer and football, need smooth and even grass. If you are using artificial grass on the ground, it’s easier to maintain. You can trim short all the grass head, and nothing will grow beyond that.

Then again, you can easily clean it up with less water and fewer tools to be used. That’s why using fake grass for a play area is very much suitable, no matter where you are.

Is Artificial Turf Safe For Kids?

To be specific, yes, artificial turf is safe for kids. However, there’s a catch. As kids are sensitive to different types of allergies, you must ensure that you are using high-quality turf toxin-free. Then again, you have to make sure there’s no dust, dirt, and other particles by simply cleaning it every other day.

If you are worried about the safety of your kids, you can also use a safety pad underneath the grass bed. This will ensure maximum protection for your little ones.

Tips And Tricks To Keep Fake Grass Clean

  1. Don’t wait for stain cleaning: Once you notice there’s a stain on the lawn, there’s no reason to wait for it to clean later. The more it stays there, the more stubborn it becomes. So, you must clean it up immediately.
  2. Have a plastic bag and scooper handy: If you have at least one pet, a dog, or a cat, it’s enough to get worried that your little buddy will make a mess on the turf lawn. Why? Well, if you are playing with your buddy in the playground, it will drop waste here and there, for sure. So, keep a scooper and a plastic bag around to clean it up quickly.
  3. Be extra careful in having meals: As you are using the fake grass in the playground, it is actually meant to play. So keep off the grass with your meal and drink. You can’t simply drink alcohol or coffee or other drinks and meals that may get spilled. It will leave stains and marks.
  4. Wash weekly: Try to clean the playground once a week. The frequency may increase if it is used for regular playing. So, depending on the intensity of the ground’s use, you need to wash it regularly. It’s best to do it every week for the best result.
  5. Relocate structures: From goal-posts to chairs, there are different structures on the ground. If these structures are kept as it is for a long time, it will leave a permanent mark on it, and the level of wear in those areas will be greater. So, try to relocate these structures once in a while to promote even wear out.
